Hebbar’s Kitchen is all about Udupi Cuisine (world-renowned cuisine of South India) and its adaptation to other Indian Cuisine. Udupi cuisine forms an important part of the Cuisine of Karnataka and takes its name from Udupi.
By tradition I’m from a small district of Udupi, known to many as the ‘vegetarian hub of Karnataka’ is a rustic town nestled away in the southern part of the state. It’s home to a small population, many old and charming temples, and a sizable spread of mind-blowing food. I grew up as a vegetarian and continue to be one. I started to blog, not because I wanted to, but due to a lot of insistence from my husband, Sudarshan. He encouraged me so much and this blog was created. I decided to write listing vegetarian recipes from this tradition. Of course, like my memories are not just limited to this place, my recipes are not too!
I remember my Mom as a magician in the kitchen and my biggest inspiration, I loved watching my Mom prepare delicious and fulfilling meals with ease. Though cooking had always been a hobby, I only began to take it seriously after getting married and moved to Australia. Now I can happily eat an authentic Udupi cuisines without much hassle.
Google can throw up any recipes you desire, but I will share some of my favorites, especially the ones that are husband approved! Which is pretty much all of them. I’m open for recipe suggestions as well so feel free to send me a message with something to try! Just click on my profile to send me a message.
